SEGA has rolled out a new online profile system called SEGA Account, designed to unify your experience across their games and services. SEGA describes it as “an online profile that gives you access to a host of benefits when playing SEGA and ATLUS titles and using their online services.”
One of the most exciting features is the ability to eventually track records for the games you’ve played. Right now, though, the main benefits seem to focus on promotional emails about upcoming SEGA/Atlus games, events, and exclusive bonuses.
The first bonus? A Kazuma Kiryu suit for Goro in the upcoming Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. If you want this bonus, make sure to sign up before March 7.
Another cool feature is account linking! You can connect your SEGA Account to your Nintendo, Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Epic accounts. This feels like a more streamlined and centralized version of SEGA’s older newsletter promotions. (Anyone remember the Sonic Jam skin from the Sonic X Shadow Generations promo?)
So far, only Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and Phantasy Star Online 2 support SEGA Account, but more games are expected to follow. It wouldn’t be surprising if the upcoming Sonic Racing CrossWorlds gets added to the lineup soon.
If you want to check it out or sign up, you can do so here: SEGA Account website.
What do you all think about this new system? Is this something you’ll be signing up for?
