TMS Entertainment, a Japanese animation studio founded in 1964, later became part of SEGA after the SEGA SAMMY Holdings merger in 2005. The studio has worked on a wide range of anime, films, and TV series, but is perhaps best known for producing popular anime series like Detective Conan and Lupin the Third. For Sonic fans, TMS is most notable for creating Sonic X—the action-adventure anime about Sonic and his friends who get sent to Earth and try to return to their home world while battling Doctor Eggman along the way.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the company has made the first ten episodes of Sonic X available to watch for free on YouTube in their original Japanese language, with English subtitles! This release is notable because Sonic X is infamous for having censorship throughout its original airing in Western territories, where it was dubbed by the now-defunct American licensing company, 4Kids Entertainment.
