Last year, Sonic Frontiers received the Future Division Award at the Japan Game Awards ceremony, which was given to games that the public anticipated the most and was selected via an online vote by users. Sonic Frontiers was then released in November of that year, making it eligible for this year’s award as well.
The Japan Game Awards 2023, organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), is an event held to revitalize the industry and contribute to its growth. Every year, the event encourages the public to vote and recognize outstanding products that have made a lasting impression in hopes of expanding and advancing the culture of computer entertainment.
All nominated games were released on the Japanese market between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023. Additionally, all games were included in the general voting and were selected by the Japan Game Awards selection committee based on various criteria, including design, programming, graphics, sound, scenario, and user evaluation.

Sonic, in Sonic Frontiers, overcomes any kind of difficulties, and no enemy can stop him. No one can stop Sonic! Sonic never stops! Sonic keeps running, and with this award and the next awards, we will continue to listen to the voices of all our players to keep evolving, and we will keep running!
