Artist Dave Rapoza shares his inspiration behind the image, stating, “For me, with these kinds of artworks, I want to do more than simply recreate something from a video game. I’m aiming to create work that I would’ve dreamed to be able to create/own when I was younger and enjoying all these games. Playing through Sonic as a kid was really special. The art direction, the music and gameplay all influenced me in such a dramatic way, that I honestly feel I owe something to the property and all properties that I create work for.
